Trials and Tribulations

Good friends of the Rat Race, Duncan and Fraser can often be seen in our event centres doing their breathtaking mountain bike trials shows. They are something else and we knew it would only be a matter of time before they got themselves a proper sponsorship deal to take them to the next level.

The boys are now on the 7 stanes display team, promoting Scotland's finest mountain bike trail centres and have been receiving rave reviews wherever they have performed. Here's a wee clip promoting one of their upcoming videos, check it out they are something else

A Mighty Weekend

We’ve just got back from another hugely successful weekend, when we took the shop to the fabulous Mighty Deerstalker Adventure Run in the Scottish Borders. 650 mad runners in all sorts of fancy dress were taking on the 5 and 10km races with a huge amount of tongue in cheek country banter going on. The whole vibe was fantastic and many happy runners took on the challenge of the ‘Deer Shore’ obstacles, river crossings, darkness and porridge filles tractor tyres, as well as basking in the glorious sunshine at the event village. The race will be back again later in the year most likely and we’ll be there again to support it. Hope to see you there too. Check out the details here: www.themightydeerstalker.com

Out and about

Just when we thought Spring was in the air, the winds have turned to the North and it’s snowing in Bonny Scotland again. So it’s a good time to remind you of our deals on Columbia winter clothing including his and hers Red Mountain Down Vests, Paclite Goretex Waterproof Jackets and the men’s Ice Ax Soft Shell and women’s Nebula. Check them out here Next weekend we’ll be taking the shop to our first event of the season, the Polaris Challenge, at Traquair House in the Scottish Borders. With the weather as it is, it could be a testing weekend for competitors but we’ll be there with all the gear and bike accessories they could need. One week later we’ll be back at Traquair for The Mighty Deerstalker, a fabulous extravangsa of adventure running with a whole day of activities rammed into the mini festival site where the 10km race will start and finish. We can’t wait for the mud wrestling to begin and the post race party featuring our favourite ska-sters Big Hand will be something to remember.

ISPO

We’ve been a bit busy catching up here from a visit over the water to Munich for ISPO, Europe’s largest outdoor trade show. The great and the good, (and the weird) of the European Outdoor Industry were showing off their wares for winter 2007 and it was ‘interesting’ viewing… Amongst the weirdness we tracked down some of our favourite suppliers and arranged for some great deals for UAG customers moving forward in 2007. Keep an eye on our Smartwool Next To Skin Layers that will be coming in at great deals and the increased range and stock of Bamboo Base layers that we’ll be taking to our events throughout the summer. First up will be the Polaris Challenge mountain bike race in Scotland in March, where we’ll have our event shop and a great range of on and off bike wares at great deals to keep you lot happy. If you’re racing and need anything in advance just let us know, if not, just come up and say hello; it’d be great to hear your thoughts on the site. See you there folks

Christmas

Well we’re still here over the festive period even if we may be a bit slower replying to queries and getting to the post office, but it’s just all the mince pies we’ve been eating! We’ve been working on some site updates, including this new blog, which we aim to integrate into the main site fairly soon, and hope that the whole thing becomes even easier to use in the New Year. We’ll use this blog to keep you up to date with new product arrivals, exciting news we have, updates on some of the extra curricular activities we’ll be getting up to, the events that we’ll be retailing at in 2007 etc etc. Keep an eye on it, it could get very busy…
