Keeping your legs warm and comfortable while you are out training and racing in cold winter conditions should be easier than it is.
It is convenient enough to get yourself a pair of long strides, it’s another to get a pair that is warm, breathes, stretches, is soft against the skin and rugged on the ouside, that also allows you to run or ride and has pockets. The search is over thanks to the new Whistlers from i-RULE.
I was expecting big things after trawling through the online testimonials for the product and in a rare occurrence, these expectations were met only after prolonged training in the strides.
The garment is made of Supplex from Du Pont which provides a brushed light-fleece texture against the skin and a flat, matte outer. It breathes well and does not get clammy and this was across a 4 week period that encompassed ascents to 7,000 ft and ambient temperatures that ranged from -2 to plus 20 degrees C. along with variable humidty and wind conditions. I’d say the garment would be at its best working out in a temperature range (degrees C) of between - 10 and + 15 to 20.
The fabric has wonderful stretch characteristics that have been well exploited by the cut of the gament’s construction. Excellent range of motion and support is provided by the articulated knee section. No matter what you are doing the Whistlers stick with you, there are no hot spots of irritation. I am an avowed fan of the Pocketplex system as used in the i-RULE shorts and in the permutation used on the Whistlers there is more storage space.. In fact, i-RULE have extended the storage option by including a very handy, typically well made rear pocket, sensibly positioned below the hip line.
